Berries are packed with important
phystonutrients that quite literally
destroy rogue cancer cells
(see article on phytonutrients)

Berry Smoothie
(Packed with vital nutrients and made in minutes. This recipe
is so delicious it's hard to believe it's so health-promoting
)

Ingredients (the amounts are flexible)

Blueberries (fresh are best – but use frozen if you can’t get fresh)

Rasberries (again fresh are best – but use frozen if you can’t get fresh). Rasberries are particularly good for flavour - nutritionally excellent too.

You can use any fresh berries when you can get them - blackberries - blackcurrants - strawberries etc. But always try to get some berries into the smoothie. You can add fresh pineapple, peeled, sliced kiwi fruit, banana - or any other fruit- play about with the ingredients to develop your favourite smoothie

Goat's milk yoghurt (goat's milk is much, much healthier than cow's milk - a far better fat composition - and the yoghurt will give you the friendly bacteria that is so important for health. Leave this out if you suffer from milk intolerance)

Golden linseed (from a health shop - the fatty acids in linseed are very important for the health of the heart - for cancer prevention - and have a whole host of other health benefits) See article on "Fish oils on prescription")

Method

First blend approximately a tablespoon of linseed to a fine powder - (whole seeds tend to pass straight through the digestive system without releasing their nutrients).

If you have a coffee grinder this will very quickly produce a fine flour from the linseed.

If you don't have a coffee grinder - and find that you have trouble blending the dry linseed - try soaking them in a little water overnight - then blend both the seeds and the soak-water.

Add a handful of blueberries - and a handful of raspberries (and any other fruit you fancy)

Blend well (again the nutrients from the berry seeds are made more accessible when the seeds are chopped open)

This is a highly nutritious meal in a glass
(or a bowl)
Absolutely delicious - a great way to start your day.

This smoothie maker is available from Amazon. However, a hand blender (see below) can be used to make smoothies - plus it has other uses.

This hand blender comes with a chopping attachment which is useful for chopping small amounts of, for example. dried fruit for using in healthy nutrient-rich "sweets" and "chocolates". It's available from Amazon.

The Russell Hobs coffee grinder is available from Amazon It grinds linseed to a fine flour in seconds. Add this to smoothies to provide a host of nutrients including both omega-3 and omega-6 essential fatty acids.
